STAR, Inc., Lighting the Way was established in 1952 by parents who believed that children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) are entitled to the same basic opportunities in their home community as other children and as an alternative to institutionalization.

 STAR is a not–for-profit organization serving individuals of all ages who have I/DD, as well as providing support services to their families.  We create opportunities for individuals to live full lives with independence, freedom of choice and personal growth.  Our goal is the inclusion of all individuals with disabilities in their community.
